The Other Pretenders to the Wimbledon Crown: Mikhail Youzhny

We all know that the top 4 in the men's game (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray) are the virtual top tier favorites for this year's Wimbledon but it would be interesting to also check out the other guys who made it good this grass season and may have a chance to at least, break through the semi's or, surprise, surprise, win Wimbledon!  It has happened before! (Ivanisevic is the last one I can remember)

The third man on the list is Mikhail Youzhny who surprisingly reached the semifinals also in Halle at the Gerry Weber Open.  He lost to Roger Federer though.  However, there were other players seeded higher than him in his side of the draw (Dolgopolov, Seppi) but Youzhny, a former top 10 player rose to the occasion.

He should also go deeper in Wimbledon if he gets a decent draw.

The Other Pretenders to the Wimbledon Crown: Philipp Kohlschreiber

We all know that the top 4 in the men's game (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray) are the virtual top tier favorites for this year's Wimbledon but it would be interesting to also check out the other guys who made it good this grass season and may have a chance to at least, break through the semi's or, surprise, surprise, win Wimbledon!  It has happened before! Second on the list is another German, Philipp Kohlschreiber who demolished Rafael Nadal 63 64 in the quarterfinals at Halle.  You could say that Nadal may be tired from his French Open campaign and Kohlschreiber was fresh but still, a win is a win and Philipp took advantage of the situation.  However, he lost to fellow German, Tommy Haas in the semifinals.

Kohlschreiber should also go deeper in this year's Wimbledon if he gets a decent draw.

The Other Pretenders to the Wimbledon Crown: Tommy Haas

We all know that the top 4 in the men's game (Djokovic, Nadal, Federer and Murray) are the virtual top tier favorites for this year's Wimbledon but it would be interesting to also check out the other guys who made it good this grass season and may have a chance to at least, break through the semi's or, surprise, surprise, win Wimbledon!  It has happened before! First on the list is this year's surprise winner at Halle, local boy Tommy Haas, even if Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer were on the draw.  He only met Federer in the final and he mastered him in two sets.  Haas definitely had the weapons to win over Roger and when he's really in top form, he can pull of a win like what he did in Halle.

I just hope he gets a decent draw so he can go deeper into the Wimbledon tournament.  He's one of my sentimental favorites!
