Kiki Bertens: 2014 French Open Female Breakout Player

Kiki Bertens of the Netherlands (#148) is finally showing her potential, after seeing her play really well before.  She reaches the fourth round of the 2014 French Open, and promptly wins the 2014 French Open Female Breakout Player Award.  

I think, this has been the deepest she has ever been in any grand slam.  She defeated Romanian Alexandra Cadantu (#81) in the first round 76(5) 61.

In the second round, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova of Russia (#25) retired in the third set after trailing Bertens, 75 64 30.

In the third round, she demolished Spaniard Silvia Soler-Espinosa (#85) 62 61.

She will next meet German Andrea Petkovic (#27) in the fourth round.
