Lucas Pouille entered the Rome Open as a lucky loser. However, loser he is not, as he manages to take advantage of his entry into the main draw as he drew a bye in the first round, and went on to defeat Ernests Gulbis and David Ferrer in the 2nd and 3rd round. In the quarterfinals, he had a walkover on Juan Monaco.
He will meet Andy Murray in the semifinal. This sudden change of performance puts Lucas into the top 30 in this year's race. He has nothing to lose in his match against Murray so I hope he puts up a good fight.
