I was one of those who are happily surprised to see Marcos Baghdatis reach the fourth round of the US Open for the very first time!
For some strange reason, Baghdatis has never gotten to the second week of this grand slam. He has reached, at least the fourth round in all the other slams, with a runner-up finish in the 2006 Australian Open as his best performance yet.
This is also his best performance in a slam since a 4th round appearance in the 2009 Australian Open.
His ranking should improve after this slam, whatever happens in his match against another performing player, Gael Monfils.
