Petra Kvitova starts her road to #1 here in the Australian Open and a possible second Grand Slam title. However, she has tough opponents on the way including Irina Camelia Begu of Romania, and Russians Maria Kirilenko and Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Her most likely quarterfinal opponent is Marion Bartoli. Samantha Stosur is also on this side of the draw but local players rarely do well in their home slam. 2008 finalist Ana Ivanovic is also in this side of the draw but Pavlyuchenkova should be able to take care of her.
