2015 US Open: Anett Kontaveit - From ITF Into the Big Leagues

This is Anett Kontaveit's (#152) first ever foray into the fourth round of the US Open and for any grand slam as well.  She's another up-and-coming player from Estonia.

She had to go through qualifying to reach the main round and her win today in the third round against American Madison Brengle (#47) 62 36 60 was her third consecutive match these two weeks.

In the first round, she defeated Australian Casey Dellacqua (#60) 75 62, then dispatched seeded Russian player Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (#31) 75 64.

Her trip ended in the fourth round though as she lost to the legendary champion Venus Williams (#23) 62 61.

2015 US Open: Anna Tatishvili - Into the Second Round for a Second Time

Anna Tatishvili (#121), who played for Georgia before and is now playing for the US, gets to the second round of the US Open for the second time in her career.  She reached the fourth round here in 2012, her best effort yet in any of the grand slams.

She won over seeded player Karolina Pliskova (#8) of Slovakia in the first round 61 62, but couldn't quite keep the momentum and lost to fellow American Madison Brengle (#47) 36 26 in the second round.

This is her sixth appearance in the second round or deeper in all of the grand slams.
