Fabio Fognini (#65) reached the semi's of Umag, following his surprise quarterfinal appearance in the French Open. He lost to Marin Cilic in the semi's. In the quarters, he won over compatriot Potito Starace (#63) 36 63 61. In the second round, he took care of veteran Olivier Rochus of Belgium 64 61 (#75). Portuguese Rui Machado (#84) was his first round opponent, 64 63.
