Dominic Thiem: Player Ranked Outside the Top 100 Who Reached the Second Round of the 2014 Australian Open

 

Dominic Thiem of Austria, currently ranked #136 in the world, won his first round match today in Melbourne,  against Joao Sousa of Brazil (#50), 57 64 63 76(3).  It's also his first time into the second round of a grand slam.

He will next meet South African Kevin Anderson (#21) in the second round
