Anna Karolina Schmiedlova: Player Ranked Outside the Top 100 Who Reached the Second Round of the 2013 French Open

Slovakian player Anna Karolina Schmiedlova, currently ranked #150 in the world, reached the second round of the 2013 French Open, after upsetting Yanina Wickmayer, 76 26 62, currently ranked #41.  She lost to American Jamie Hampton in the second round.
