There was almost nothing separating world #5 Samantha Stosur, and world #105, Lucie Hradecka during their quarterfinal match today in the Madrid Open. On paper, Stosur, should have won this match handily, but this is real life - and sometimes - even in tennis, there are hidden gems just waiting to show themselves on the world stage. Tonight, it was the turn of Lucie Hradecka, who gamely played with Samantha toe-to-toe, reaching tiebreakers in both sets. However, Lucie's weapon - her bullet serve - helped her tonight in the tightest moments, allowing her to eke herself out in both tiebreakers - and win them - gaining herself a semifinal match against, well, the Queen herself, Serena Williams!
I'm so excited to see them play tomorrow. It's gonna be war!
