French Open 2012 Frontrunners: Women's Side

One more week and it's going to be the French Open already.  Among the top 10, only Agnieszka Radwanska and Marion Bartoli are still playing this week in Brussels and Strasbourg.  The rest are taking the week off.

Anyhow, based on the point system I used during the whole clay court season, the top 4 contenders or the women who will most likely be in the semifinals stages of Roland Garros are - Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova, Victoria Azarenka and Li Na

They are also my top 4 bets based on what I've seen throughout the clay court season.  Of course, two of them might meet each other somewhere in the draw since these four are not exactly the Top 4 in the women's game right now.  Serena is at #6, I think, Maria at #2, Victoria at #1 and Li Na at #8.

Well, my top bet is still Serena, since if she is on, which I think she is, she can swipe them quite easily - something which I saw during the Madrid Open.  She was also deadly in Rome, but suddenly quit in the third round, I think.

My next bet is Maria Sharapova.  She is really playing ferociously this season and since this is the only Slam she hasn't won, you can really sense her hunger to win it!

Victoria Azarenka and Li Na have played solidly throughout the season and can do damage if they are playing well.

Of course, there's a Group B in this list, after the A list.  Leading them is 2010 finalist, Sam Stosur, Agnieszka Radwanska, Angelique Kerber and Sara Errani.  They have all been playing really well also this season, and I won't be surprised if anyone of them reaches the semifinal stage of RG.

Well, we'll see what happens in a week's time!
